WELCOME…Claims and Mother Nature
In southeast Michigan, so far this winter, we have had very mild weather after 2 straight years of extreme colds and heavy snow fall. For the insurers of risk when the weather is mild – it generally means fewer claims and improved loss ratios. For vendors to the insurers, long spans of mild weather means we get caught up on our old files, paperwork and spend more time with our family.
Those of us in southeast Michigan know that the weather can change in an instant. Mother Nature has always been obsessively compulsive, manic, depressive and, some say, schizophrenic! She has taught all of us in the insurance claims business to be patient and careful what we wish for; because we know that sooner or later she will go from being easy going, charming and breathtakingly beautiful to nuts, rude and just plain crazy. Remember what she always says, “Don’t mess with Mother Nature.”
As I wrote this piece, the weather changed, the wind began to blow and the snow/ice falls. Mom Nature is getting crazy again!! Well, the first day of Spring is March 20th – less than a month away – Think Spring (Ms. Nature also teaches us to Think Positive!). My wife reminds me to be thankful for stacks of files, tons of paperwork and to thank Mother Nature! Thanks, also, to all of our clients and for visiting our website. We hope you visit often.
Be safe – Be well!
